Welcome Ori Zviran: Matia's New VP of R&D

Big news at Matia!

 Ori Zviran has joined Matia as our Vice President of Research & Development (VP of R&D). With a career spanning cybersecurity, automated machine learning, and extensive experience in scaling and governing complex backend systems, Ori brings a unique blend of technical expertise and leadership experience that will be instrumental as we continue building the future of unified data operations.

A Technical Journey Worth Sharing

Ori's path to Matia reflects the kind of diverse technical background that makes for exceptional engineering leadership. Most recently, he served as a Principal Software Engineer at Palo Alto Networks, where he focused on system architecture,technical standards and strategic direction at the group level.

Before that, he was the first employee at Obligo (one of Matia's earliest customers), where he played a key role in designing, implementing, and governing the system’s backend, architecture, and data schemas, and eventually  became R&D Team Lead. His time at Obligo gave him firsthand experience with the data challenges that modern companies face; challenges that Matia is uniquely positioned to solve.

His technical journey also includes a stint at Firefly.ai working on automated machine learning, and even a few years in computational biology research. Ori holds a BSc in Computer Science and Computational Biology, and during his research, he focused on building automated big data pipelines for comparative analysis before transitioning fully into software engineering.

When he's not solving complex engineering challenges, Ori is busy at home with his wife, their one-year-old son, and their dog,who, according to Ori, "respects the baby but definitely doesn't love him yet."

Why Matia?

When asked what drew him to Matia, Ori was characteristically straightforward: "The product is incredibly interesting. I love data, the technical challenges are substantial, and the team is exceptional."

He also noted that Ben may have been "persistently persuasive" over the course of two years. We'll take that as a testament to both Ben's conviction and Ori's discernment in choosing the right opportunity.

What's Next

Ori joins us at an exciting time as Matia continues to scale our data platform and expand our engineering capabilities. His experience building backend systems from the ground up, leading technical teams, and navigating complex data infrastructure challenges makes him the perfect fit to help guide our R&D efforts.
